I grew up in South East London and was fortunate to attend good schools, which gave me the ambition, qualifications and personal skills necessary to attend the University of London. I have taught in a variety of schools for over 25 years, 20 as a senior leader in education; for the last 13 years I have had the honour of being Headteacher of The Ravensbourne School in Bromley.
My focus has always been to see education as a path to social justice and social mobility; every child, irrespective of their abilities or circumstances, deserves an excellent education; an education that prepares them for life and to be able to be leaders of their society.
In 2011, the opportunity to become CEO of Education for the 21st Century presented itself, and I was delighted to take the appointment. Working with a group of local schools who share a set of core values about education is a real privilege and has the aim of transforming the education of the students within the Trust and growing stronger local communities in Bromley based on partnership and collaboration. This is a challenge that I very much relish.
