Key Stage 4 Options

Welcome to the start of an important and exciting time for your child as they think about their future and decide on their Key Stage 4 (KS4) courses. 

The aim of the Key Stage 4 curriculum is to allow your child to be successful in a range of courses that suit their skills, interests, and aspirations for the future. In doing so, there will be a greater emphasis on using approaches to study that promote independence and home learning.

Over the coming weeks, we will be supporting all Year 9 students through a process that will culminate with them completing their options form and being placed onto their GCSE courses. A timeline for the first stage of this process can be found below.

GCSEs: Sociology, Media Studies, Business Studies

BTEC/CNAT: Health and Social Care, Marketing & Enterprise, Sports Science, Hospitality & Catering, Digital IT

Wednesday 5th March

Year 9 Careers Fair with external providers

Thursday 13th March

‘Try it, choose it, love it’ GCSE taster sessions during Year 9 Enrichment

Wednesday 19th March

KS4 Options and Information Evening 5:00 - 6:30pm

Thursday 20th March

Options form sent to all parents

19th March – 2nd April

Optional parent & student guidance meetings with senior staff and tutors

Wednesday 2nd April

Deadline for submitting option choices

2nd April – 21st June

Conversations held with students that have options timetable clashes or where there are concerns about a student’s option choices

 

School curriculum and timetable planning based on final option choices
