The Newly Qualified Teacher programme is currently being rebranded from a one year induction, to a two year induction with a progressive reduction in immediate support. The intention of the plan is to better support new teachers in the profession and to curb the drop off rate of teachers leaving the profession within the first three years.
The new framework known as the Early Career Framework (ECF) comes into effect from 2021 and revamps the NQT year into a new programme known as the Early Career Teacher.
The programme is currently being trailed in the North of England, with results from the trial so far being very positive.
The ECF is a programme of self directed study, alongside mentor conversations, to address pedagogical aspects of teaching and learning. For more information on the ECT programme, and the ECF, please click on the link below:
